Powers & Jurisdiction

The Civil Appellate High Court of Jaffna is vested with civil appellate, revisionary, and supervisory jurisdiction in respect of judgments, decrees, and orders delivered by District Courts within the Northern Province[cite: 7].

Civil Appellate Jurisdiction

Hears and determines Leave to Appeal Cases (LA), Final Appeal Cases (FA), Appeals Notwithstanding the Lapse of Time (AL), and Applications for Acceleration of Cases (AC)[cite: 7].

Revisionary Jurisdiction

Exercises revisionary powers over subordinate court records and proceedings through Revision Cases (RV) to correct errors of fact or law[cite: 7].
